"My father Arthur Balmforth was born in Leeds to Arthur and Martha Balmforth; Martha surname was Bernisconi. Dad had 4 brothers John, Jimmy (James) Richard, and Fred (Fred was about 18 years old when he died) of cancer. His brothers lived into their 70s. His sisters were Katherine, Julia, Milly and Hannah. Hannah born 1913 died age 93! The rest lived into their 70s except Julia who was Jin her 50s. Auntie Hannah said to me other babies were born but died very very young.

"I never knew Hughie Deary had two wives I just remember him coming to grandmother Hildas with a young woman when I was about 10 or 11. I know James (Jimmy) Deary never married. I last saw the 3 of them at my mums funeral in August 2000. I've no idea if Bernard is still alive, but he would be in his 90s by now. I've never met his wife or children or Hugh's children.

"My sister Deborah and her husband William (BILLY) haven't any children although he has 2 by his first marriage. The info on my grandfather Joseph Downing is correct as far as I know and the dates of my dad's parents.

"I'll sort out a few old photos I have and get get them scanned for free at my local library, it's only open part time though but should be able to do it next week. I just have to phone in advance to book the scanner as they only have one!

"I've never married or had children.

Many thanks for all the time and effort into researching the family tree! It's so interesting to read it all. I always knew grans nephew William Ridsdale was missing killed in action in 1945 but had no idea he was a Sargent in the Royal Artillery until I read it on the family tree. All my dad's brothers and sisters were born in Leeds as we're there children. My mum Margaret Balmforth was born in Leeds too. Dad's birthday was 27th July 1927. Mums was 16th March 1926. "I've some more info regarding my late grandmother Hilda Ridsdale. Her husband Joseph Downing was born in 1897. a day died the year I was born 1952. My mum's sister Clara died aged 6 months old on 10 February 1929 when mum was 3 years old. Hilda died 5 August 1978.I was looking on the family tree for the Ridsdale and noticed that my gran Hilda is listed as getting married a further 3 times, but when Joseph Downing diedin 1952 she remained a widow the rest of her life. I got the date of her exact death from a family tree from the Downing side of my late mother's family which was researched by Betty Downing. My mum died 4th August 2000."
