    • The Archive Photographs Series AROUND LOFTUS Compiled by Jean Wiggins first published 1997 The Chalford Publishing Company ISBN 0 7524 0780 5 Pge 36
...Mr Swalwell heard that Foulsyke was to rent from Lord Zetland, to a married couple, and proposed to his sweetheart (a Sunderland girl who was a children's nurse) and moved to the farm two days later. In those days Foulsyke was divided into three separate 'cow keepings' so what Mr Swalwell got in effect was a smallholding with one cowhouse and one pig sty... ..Lily and Wilf Swalwell got five beasts and pigs from his parents for their wedding present and eventually they started a milk round in East Loftus with a barrow and a ten gallon churn. They progressed until they got bottled milk from Northern Dairies and had a large milk round...

Newspaper Announcement Whitby Gazette (858/D1) 19 April 1991 Mr & Mrs Wilfred Swalwell of Foulsyke Farm Loftus wish to thank all the family and friends for the wonderful weekend of our golden wedding anniversary and for all the flowers, cards & gifts
